Wild and crazy February

Well, what a month!!
I am glad that March is here because February was not kind to us.

This month I reversed into Andrew's bob-cat (large bright orange truck like thing) when he left it lying around where I wasn't expecting it. OK, not really his fault. I have now learned that reversing with my head sticking out the window is not the best way to reverse and that I should use my morrors more! I was without my car for 8 days while they replaced the whole back door, bumper and resprayed the other door.

Andrew's new car had the mirror snapped off it while we were in Melbourne, courtesy of a faulty parking garage door in the appartment we were staying at. They tried to tell us it was 'park at own risk' until I flipped out and reminded them that they were charging us extra for parking and had no signs warning drivers of their incredibly useless garage door. Finally they have agreed to pay, but we had to drive home from Melbourne with Andrew's mirror taped on, as it was just hanging by the wires.

Andrew's lap top was stolen from our Accountant's office where he had left it on a Friday afternoon, planning to return on Monday morning. His laptop bag was also stolen which had his British and Aussie passports inside. We have lost all our lovely photos from our trip to Wales and England, which foolishly we had not copied on to disk. Let that be a lesson to us in the future!

Our home computer finally breathed it's last breath and Andrew took it into work to see if it was repairable. It was gone for a whole week, leaving me with no computer at all, other than the loan computer Andrew was temporarily using from work, which I could only use in the early morning before he went to work. I had been asked to teach the lesson in RS that Sunday too and was finding it tricky without my computer as it was not one from the manual.

Friday 27th Feb: The final kick! Andrew took two friends visiting from Canada to see a Rugby match in the city that night. During this time, his car was broken into and 3 windows smashed. Andrew had gone straight from work consequently he had a car full of stuff. They had stolen the borrowed lap top, and one of our friends bags with his passport, money and tickets inside. Fortunately for us, on one of the theif's trips back to our car for more things, a police car drove past and caught the guy in the act. After a search of the area they were able to find all of our belongings.

I was so glad he got that lap top back as it was Saturday the next day and my last chance for a computer to prepare my lesson, which ironically was on 'overcoming adversity!'
Although we have had a lot of bad luck this past month, we were very blessed to have it end as well as it did. I now have my car fixed, Andrew's fixed, my home computer is working again and Andrew is waiting for his claim to go through for his lap top. It is one of those times you are really grateful you are insured!

OH Lies, I'm glad it's over for you too.

"Use your mirrors" was drilled into my head as a youth driving around in the farm equipment. I did smile when you said the bob-cat was 'lying' around....aren't they kind of big :)

You guys have such terrible luck. At least they caught the guy that broke into Andrew's car and you got that stuff back. But what a nightmare.

What a month to remember! It always seems to happen at once doesn't it? I hope MArch is much less eventful for your family.

Good grief, Mrs! Here's to a very quiet and dry March.

I had the same thought as Jeni but having knocked down part of someone's wall once when reversing, I can sympathise! So sorry for all your bad luck, but things can only get better.

I heard some of these on the phone, but reading them all at once really makes it seem disastrous. Hopefully you've got all your bad luck behind you.
