'Drought and Flooding Rains'

After such a heat wave in early Feb we were anxious for some rain. The months average rainfall came on 21st Feb in a half hour period. We have never seen anything like it! Half of our gravel driveway was washed onto the lawn, and our water tanks had so much water going into them via the down pipes that the force was shooting water from the tanks out of the top pipe creating a fountain. Emma, Josh, Tara and Greg were at our house at the time and we were all mesmerised by it!
The thunder was so loud that we ended up with a dog cowering in our laundry. (First time a stray has turned up at our place...I think it was because Tara was visiting!)

These tanks hold 120, 000 litres and both of them were overflowing!

If you look carefully you can see the water pouring out the side of the tank as more filled it from the pipes on the other side. We now have enough water to last us for a year if it didn't rain again!! Woohoo!

That's amazing. Josh was telling us about the tanks.

I love big rain storms so I was happy to be there, but I hope your grass survived the flood.

Such a fitting title!

I guess you didn't bother going out, then, even with an umbrella??!

I love rain like that. I'm glad we got to enjoy a good storm before we left.

Wow, if it was like nothing you'd ever seen before, it must have been incredible! Must be nice to know you've got your year supply of water.

Beats trying to store a year's supply in your basement.
