"Bagachuting"

I went outside to investigate what the squeals and laughter were about, and found Mitchell and Bailey had placed a spare mattress, a cushion and a football tackle pad on the ground beneath our deck. They had tied together about 10 plastic bags which they were planning on using to slow their descent from the free fall from the top of the deck. Of course they wanted the camera to record their attempts. It kept them busy for ages!

This then progressed to stair jumping! I was probably more concerned about them damaging my camera than the thought that they may actually hurt themselves. They are pretty hardy...the kids that is, especially when I looked at these pictures and realised Mitchell was wearing his 'Ugg boots,' which are not exactly renowned for their foot support!

This reminded me of a funny quote I heard once. "Boy defined: Nature's answer to that false belief that there is no such thing as perpetual motion."

Don't you just love boys! I love that they ALWAYS take it to the next level. You can just see them thinking - "well the deck thing was fun ... what can we try jumping off next?"

I wish Jacob could live near your boys - although it might increase the danger on all counts - he would have a blast!

So, did the bags actually slow them down? Joshua is looking at the pictures with me and said, "I want to try that."

Adam would have also loved that! He is always sad that we don't live by you guys. The 'bagachute' made me laugh!

Liesa I need "mom of boys" lessons from you! I love that you let them do it-and document it too! I need to work on my control issues ;)

That's so funny and very creative. I think they're pretty gutsy because your deck is really high.

Cori, I'm not sure if the bags slowed them down. I saw Bailey sending 'Action man' off the deck attached to a plastic bag a few weeks ago. It seemed to work for him! I think there may be a few steps missing in their scientific theory between trials on a plastic toy and human application.

You are such a good mom to let them do that! I think I would be freaking out. POoor Jake isn't going to get to do much with his controlling mom! Looks like you boys had a blast!!!!

They need to try something more durable next time, like a thick piece of fabric. I'd be up for the bagachuting with them but I doubt I'd try the stair jump - I'm sure I'd land on the stairs!

Lies, I can't believe you let them try - I'd be sure someone would break something. Of course, if it were my kids, they really would.
