For a bit of a birthday surprise for Bailey, we started on his room first. I didn't change the colour of the walls, as I have been a bit short of time, but I painted his brown wooden bed with white paint, bought new linen and decorated it in a nautical theme. I wanted it to still be young boy-ish, but something he won't outgrow in a year or two.

We bought him a lamp and side table.

I asked him if he would like to paint his own art work for his walls. (Always a little bit risky as you can't predict the outcome!)

Of course, I suggested how he should do it, but he painted it himself. We were both happy with the outcome! He even signed it 'skipper,' which is our nickname for him.

I love Bailey's art - what a great idea! I might have my kids do that, if we ever get a house. What did he paint on?
It was just plain white canvas from the craft shop. Cheap and easy and comes in all sizes.
Great artwork! I look forward to seeing the room in person.
It looks GREAT! I love the artwork. Bailey did a great job.
More house pictures please Lies.
Sara, I've seen those canvas squares all over the place here. I bet Michael's would have them.
I love Bailey's pictures and think I'll have Ethan try it too. Great idea. What was the book on Bailey's nightstand?
The book is one you should definitely get. We love it. It is called "The Dangerous book for boys" and it has everything in there from how to tie knots, to how to build go-karts to manners in front of girls. Compulsory reading for boys!
I was showing Adam the pictures of Bailey's room and his comment was 'whoa, he must really love America'. So cute he thought the red, white and blue was American patriotism. He was very impressed with Bailey's painting and said 'he's go good, I wish I could paint that well'.
I agree, such a great idea for him to do his own artwork. Fab...
Looks so great, please tell me it is not always that clean! Great artwork too, love it!
Very cute. Very arty, too. Great job both of you!
Love,
Mum and Dad
