Fanning the fire

You know the weather is warming up when the scramble for pedestal fans begins. The boys love to have them blowing directly on their faces as they sleep. As we don't have the ducted air installed yet, these fans have become a valuable commodity. I went into Mitchell's room the other morning to find the fan he had used the night before belted to his bed with his good belt and then locked through the buckle with a combination lock. Desperation!

He thought he had outsmarted his brothers until Josh dismantled the fan into pieces to untangle it from its locks and then re-assembled it in his own room.

I did tell them that an open window cools a room as well, but I think they enjoyed the challenge of winning a fan for the night. Now I have bought more fans, I am guessing I will see open windows and redundant fans!

Oh, the fight over the fan! That brings back memories. At least they are exercising their ingenuity!

This made me laugh so hard! I remember holding out and trying to stay awake until everyone else was asleep, so I could go and steal the fan at night! I don't think we ever got as creative as locking it, or dismantling it, though!

That is so funny! You are very lucky that you will have so many handymen to help you out in the future. Oh that we could have summers hot enough to require fans at night ...

Hillarious! Those boys crack me up! I don't remember having a fan when we were growing up - that shows how much I must have got it!

Em - How can you not remember the fan we had - it was always in Mark's room. Even as a young kid I remember feeling resentful that he always had it. Australian summers bring out the best in people.

Yeah, I remember Tania always had the fan - now I know why! I guess it shows the difference between boys and girls, though. The competition never got quite so stiff among us.
